The tool used by Turkmens to make rope from sheep wool is called kirmen. They used this thread to make wool socks and wool belts. Sometimes they would color it and use it to weave rugs.
According to my mother, when they were children, they would go to the plateau in the summer months. His uncle and aunt used to graze sheep during the day and use their wool. With this tool called Kirmen, sheep wool was turned into yarn and then socks were knitted from the yarn.
